House build part 9

If you would like to read house build part 1-8 head here.

We started the week of the 9th expecting the roofers to come and fix the guttering and exposed frame, which resulted from a planning oversight or something similar. They promised to finish it by Tuesday. The previous Friday, we received the roofing invoice. Normally, Lanky pays invoices immediately, but a few people contacted me on social media about unresolved issues with the same company. So, I asked Lanky to wait on payment until the roofers came on Tuesday and fixed the problem.

Unfortunately the fireplace installers were off sick. so we had to rearrange the install for Wednesday 18th.

Tuesday 17th

Site supervisor rang us to inform us the roofer was unable to attend due to some personal things needing their attention but would be onsite Wednesday.

Wednesday 18th

Roofers attended site and fixed all issues.

On the plan

We’re still waiting for the plumber to show up. Lanky thinks he’s holding off until he can tackle everything at once. Over the weekend, we planted some trees and plants. (see here).

  • Wednesday fireplace will be installed
  • Water proofers will be onsite
  • Septic and other plumbing work.
  • Backfilling the trenches the electrical and plumbing have been laid in.
  • Continue planting trees and gardens.
  • Planning for 2 of the angus to head to the butcher.
  • Planning on moving the Murray Greys to our homestead.
  • Planning Honeys Paddock.

We are hoping that we can arrange some cattle yards to send off the angus steers currently on the homestead site, so we can move the Murrays over and not overload the property.

Over the weekend we began digging in a number of our fruit trees, and a lot of the potted flowers I have been striking. The hope is over the next few months those plants will establish and i’ll be able to take cuttings from them to extend the size of the gardens.
