House Build Part 5

Read along to see how house build part 5 develops.

Friday, August 9th:

We headed out to the property for our weekly cattle check, and to our surprise, we found the first set of bricks laid in place! The sight of those initial bricks set our hearts racing with excitement. It brought back the familiar conversations we’ve had, full of anticipation: “We can’t wait until we can finally move in.” With each new milestone, the excitement grows, and our patience seems to dwindle. I’ve always thought of myself as a patient person, but lately, I feel more like a child on Christmas Eve, counting down the days until the big moment arrives.

First day of brick work

Monday, August 12th:

Lanky, our son Liam, and I made another trip to the property. The bricklayers were hard at work, focused on their task. Liam, ever eager to be involved, asked if he could help. He spent the morning handing bricks to the men, one by one, as they called for them. Watching him jump in so willingly filled us with pride—he’s always been one to lend a hand when there’s work to be done.

While Lanky chatted with the bricklayers, I took the opportunity to check on the cattle. As we headed home, Lanky shared some exciting news: the bricklayers mentioned that with the two of the tradies working together, it should take about 3-4 weeks to finish the job.

Second day of brick work

Thursday, August 15th :

We returned to the property to meet with the agronomist. As we discussed our plans, the bricklayers were busy at work. Their dedication was evident; by the time we left, nearly an entire wall on one side of the house was complete. It’s incredible to see our future home taking shape so quickly, and each visit makes the dream of moving in feel that much closer.
