House Build Part 11
If you would like to read house build parts 1-10, head here.
This update has been very delayed due to life, so apologies for the delay.
During the first week of holidays we were enjoying time with family and allowing Daisy to recover from her operation. During that week we spent most of our time in the car with my nephew allowing him to rack up hours as he is on his learners permit, the aim was to get him confident enough so he could do some of the drive back into NSW at the end of the fortnight.
Octobers updates
Sunday 6th
We aren’t sure exactly what day the work was done as we hadn’t been at the site in almost 2 weeks, but turns out the kitchen cabinetry had started to be installed, so had the sinks and the plumber and carpenter had also been on site. the bulk head above the fridge location had been framed up, and the power point cutouts were done. we arranged a proper walk through for Monday so only snapped a photo of the butlers pantry through the window.
Monday 7th
The tiling was apparently meant to have started the previous week, however it had not begun.
Things that had been started.
- Bulkhead above the fridge, we were now just waiting on the plaster to come out and cover that, the fire place and the ensuite door they had to reframe with the correct size cavity.
- Cabinets were installed, in the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry however the kitchen kick boards were missing due to some error.
- Sinks were installed in the laundry and kitchen, however the bathroom sink were the wrong side or the bench was cut wrong.
- Door and window frames were painted.
- Waterproofing was done
There is always an issue to arise, and on this walk through it appeared the wardrobe order was incorrect. Sam the site supervisor corrected the order thankfully.
Friday 25th
After some delays, we finally had tilers in. before our previous walk through the Site supervisor was under the impression tiling had started, he later informed us that the tilers who claimed they had turned up lied to the company they worked for, and were let go. which meant we had to wait for new tilers to go in.
We have no idea if this is true but what we did know, tiling finally was underway.
Sunday 27th
By Sunday the tiling was further along, the painters had started to enter the property resulting in the bedrooms being painted. The aim for the tilers was to be completed around Wednesday the 30th.
Leaving on Halloween
The 31st rocked up and we were set to go inspect the house again however, we got a phone call that my mum had ended up in hospital. So 2 weeks after our previous drive into NSW, we were back in the car
This is how we ended October, the house build looking like its almost completed. The last estimate we had of getting the keys was mid November.
